Poets light the sky and great poets may illuminate the mysteries of the cosmos, especially when sung. From a diminutive amount of words, a blaze of lightning may reveal epiphanies or open up hearts that a thousand words couldn’t do.
Leonard Cohen was such a poet – a songwriter with seemingly obtuse lyrics that offered listeners opportunities to expand consciousness and transcend the mundanity of the world.
Leonard Cohen died on November 7th and left a yawning hole in the world. He was a rebbe, a mystic, a Buddhist, a mortal with all too human struggles and seasoned with a dark sense of humor, and so much more and so much more.
