Simplicity

Simplicity

Truth is infinite, to quote a phrase. It’s everywhere, obscured by the appearances of superficiality. It’s there for us to tune into the vibrational frequency of the cosmic energy.

It may be seen in the perfection of a drop of rain, or the symmetry of a flock of flying geese, or a seedling breaking through the dirt and reaching toward the sun, an infant bonding to its mother.

The hustle and bustle of daily life make it easy to miss. Our vibrational frequency is at a lower level and the mystery of perfection eludes us.

Perhaps this has always been the paradox of the human experience. On the one hand, being capable to see the subtle manifestations of Truth, yet pre-occupied with the activities and struggles of daily life. Beyond even that, many are fixated on power, greed, territory, dominance and other traits that have us in awe with glitter over substance.

There were people through the epochs that transcended enough to preach, and to write of ways to transcend. Expressing glimpses of the infinite in a pithy manner resonates best for me. Lao Tzu’s trenchant writing over 2500 years ago is an exemplar of that vein of revealing. The Tao Te Ching is minimalist, with an economy of words, but with the subtle power of revelation. Tuning into it may bring our vibrational level to the edge of Truth and the door of wisdom and love.

I also relate to the sublime wisdom and understatement of acoustic country blues music. Lightnin’ Hopkins was a paragon of that genre and listening to him would send my consciousness soaring, even if in an ephemeral way.

One of the gifts of age-ing is the gift of time to reflect inwardly on this. While it’s true that physical decline occurs as we age, we are more cognizant of our shortening time on Earth. Potentially this is liberating enough to tune in more to the higher frequency.
